Creating Awareness Of Your Outlet?
When Micheal and Christina came to Penang, I had the privilege to spend time with them for that 2 days.
The first evening, Christina asked me, “Have you heard of a place called Bukit Genting?”
“You mean Genting Highlands? Here? In Penang?”
“No, it’s a restaurant on a hill top with nice scenic view and they serve great Thai food! It’s somewhere near Balik Pulau.”
Beats me… I’ve never heard of the place before…
I called and asked a few friends, and finally found the place.
Goodness! It’s a paradise. And I’ve been in Penang for so many years, yet I’ve never heard of the place! (So embarrassed!)
The restaurant owner, Robert Tan, came and greeted us, and shared his experience and challenges in promoting his restaurant and resort.
It’s far from the town area. The road is winding, and a major part of it is still under construction etc and etc…
We told him about Flat World. He came to one of the dinner and decided to join.
We organized a networking dinner at his restaurant in April. And when the guests arrived, all of the guests gasped and were so surprise, except only 1 who has been there before.
“This is an unknown paradise!” commented Mr. Chu.
“If it’s not for this dinner, I couldn’t have known this place ever!” claimed Nora. “I’m going to bring my families here!”
“I don’t know this place either.” one of the partner, Kenneth admitted. “I’ll bring my families here too.”
“I’m going to stay here the next round I’m in Penang.” Matthew said. “I’ve been to Penang for so many trips, yet I’ve never heard of this place.”
Robert joined us at the dinner and a lot of dynamic conversation took place. Nora, formerly from the hotel lines forwarded some useful suggestions to him to create even more awareness by collaborating with the various beach hotels. Matthew also offered him some ways to bring in more business through Flat World.
He’s very happy with the event.
“I’m so happy and grateful that you all came here for the event. I’m sure more and more people will know this place, which I’ve built with passion.” He thanked the guests. “It really helps in creating more awareness of this place!”
And oh, we haven’t mentioned that his restaurant and resort is also listed in our website before the event (see map below and click to enlarge), and the pictures of the event will also be displayed. And we have over 10,000 visitors to the website each month…
Hmmm… do the maths. How many more will know this place… other than those who went to the dinner? And oh, been a merchant, Robert’s business is also listed in our business web directory.
